Parish Pastoral Councils

A parish is not primarily a structure or a building
but ‘a family of God, a fellowship afire with a unifying spirit’
‘Lumen Gentium’ (28)

The Diocesan Pastoral Centre offers a six-week training program for newly formedPastoral Councils.

This course, which is parish based, is built around the following themes:

  • Personal vision of Parish - Pastoral Councils - what they are (and they are not!)
  • The Ministry of Christ - The Church’s Mission - Skills for successful meetings .

Where there is no vision, the people perish’ Prov. 29:18

All healthy groups have agreed-upon goals, aims and objectives. This forms the basis of a clear work-plan.

Thus, good initial planning and annual facilitated reviews allow Parish Pastoral Councils to work well together for the good of the whole parish. On-going training for all officers (chairpersons, secretaries etc) ensure efficient meetings, communication and forward planning.

The Diocesan Pastoral Centre offers support and facilitation for all on-going Parish Pastoral Councils
